Day 9 - Pastor Dave
Jul 14, 2011

So, again I find myself in Mexico – El Florido to be more specific. With each passing year and each passing trip, I am amazed that God allows me to be a part of something so special. Despite all the pre-trip planning, mid-trip hiccups, and post-trip clean up, it still remains worth it! It seems that every year I am asked the same question: will this be your last trip (am I getting too old?!)? Honestly, if the question is posed a few weeks before we go the immediate response would almost certainly be ‘yes.’
Then after getting here, seeing God work in and through the lives of those who come with me, and seeing the abject poverty so close I can touch it (as it touches me), my answer softens to “probably not,” – I will be back. Either here or somewhere else. Jesus never gave me permission to stop doing the kinds of things he did. I pray that God will never let me stop.
Once again the team this year is great. They are everything I thought they would be and more. To say everyone is working hard would be an understatement (I am pretty sure we have set records for consistent speed and efficiency!). Apart from a few minor incidents we have been safe throughout the whole trip.
It has also been such a blessing to see Tiersa (our very own “Summit-Driver”) at home here in Mexico. She is a huge part of the staff team at Caravan and shares her gifts beautifully. I have been privileged to be on her team for 2 days as she lead us confidently and with excellence through the building of the homes. I can honestly say I have never been more proud of her as she is doing all that God has prepared her to do – she swings a pretty mean hammer too!
I hope you enjoy the pics - to see what we are doing and maybe even wet your appetite a bit.
Grace & Peace,
Dave
