SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2026
JOB OVERVIEW: Summit Drive Church is looking to hire up to four (4) intern positions this summer to work alongside the staff at Summit Drive Church. Each internship role will be for 30 – 35 hours per week for a total of 8 -16 weeks. At least two of the intern positions anticipate a start date between April 27 and May 4. The other two intern positions may have a start date between April 27 and June 29 (there may be some flexibility on start and end dates, but the positions are for a maximum of 16 weeks with the weeks reducing based on date of hire). The latest conclusion date for all intern positions is August 22, 2026. Work hours are flexible, but the interns will be required to attend and help with preparations for all summer camps and Sunday services. There will also be required meeting times and other events throughout the week. Pay for this position is set at $18.30/hr.
General Duties:
- Assisting with, preparing for and running the children’s VBS program, soccer camp, and youth events throughout the summer.
- Assisting with children’s ministry programming at Sunday services.
- May include assisting with young adults programming on Monday evenings.
- Tasks / responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s gifts and talents. Some positions may be more focused on assisting with children or with youth/young adults
- Assisting church ministry staff with other tasks and responsibilities as needs arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This candidate must be a mature follower of Jesus who is dedicated to the ministry of the local church, open and teachable, and must work well in a team setting. Experience working with children and youth is an asset. Preference will be given to university students. As per Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, at least two of our candidates must also meet the following:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
