Jesus left his earliest followers with these instructions: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I commanded you” (Matt 28:18-20).

For those who have come to place their trust in Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we have the joy of identifying publicly with Jesus through water baptism.  At Summit Drive we practice believer’s baptism by immersion.  We believe that each person needs to make a decision to personally turn from self-centeredness and sin, trust Jesus as their Loving Leader, and embrace his gracious gift of forgiveness and new life.

Then, in obedience to Jesus, that person is baptized – fully immersed under water as a sign of their death to a life dominated by sin, (represented by going under the water, like a burial), and being raised to new life in Christ (represented by coming out of the water – like resurrection).  This act also signals to the broader church community this person’s commitment to life as part of God’s family, the Church.
